HI
Just some advice required really.Myself and my Wfie are going on holiday to Russia next summer, visiting Moscow,st petersberg as we are there for 2 weeks we want to try 5 nights in Sochi.My questions are
Is it worth going
are there bars for us to get a drink
Are there good eating places
Are there any good cheap hotels
we speak no Russian at all would we get by ?
Is there lots to do?
How do we get from the airport to the resort
If it sno good has anyone any suggestions on better places to holiday for 5 nights or so

Hi,
I am a native English speaker from London. I have a year's experience of teaching English in Moscow, and my Russian is now close to intermediate level.
I will be starting a new job in London at the end of September, but I have almost three months until then which I would like to spend improving my Russian. So I would be very interested in working in Sochi for a few weeks during June-September 2011.
As well as experience as an English teacher, I have a scientific degree from a top UK university and very strong computer skills. My perfect job would last for about 6-8 weeks, it would allow me to improve my Russian, and it would involve meeting lots of nice people. If there is no such job in Sochi I would be happy to go somewhere else, but my guess is that the Olympic preparations are creating English-speaking jobs.

Greetings,
I am an English language consultant currently living in Moscow with my Russian wife. Apart from being a UK national and a qualified English teacher, I also hold a Masters degree(MSc) from a British university in Management & IT. I am currently preparing students in Moscow for entrance to British public schools, Oxford University, and other British and American universities. In connection with this, I prepare students for the GMAT, SATS, Oxford Entrance Exams, and other ESL examinations.
I have a wealth if international teaching experience that also includes, Saudi Arabia, Germany and Estonia. And international teaching experience that includes teaching in-company. institutes, schools and on a one to one basis, with students of varying abilities and needs.
My wife and myself would like to move to Sochi this year to become involved in any English language training programs in preparation for 2014.
I am the holder of Russian three year visa which permits me to work and live anywhere in the Russian Federation.

I think a programm "English in Motion" on the radio "Maks fm" in Sochi is very stupid!! Really! Yudgin Yesenin has bad pronunciation! I can't stand it indeed! Poor fellow! He wants to teach English!!! Yudgin Yesenin! Instead of this you should learn English yourself!! I want you to get it right! |

Sochi is not a cheap place to visit now. Most things cost the same as in Europe or even more I‘d say that Sochi has Moscow prices. There are many nightclubs, bars and restaurants. You can save some money by staying in a private hotel instead of the Radisson or other big hotels. Private hotels’ rates are more flexible and you can find a place for a reasonable price, especially if you book in advance. I can’t say what it will cost you to stay in Sochi for a week. You can spend an evening drinking beer on a public beach or a night in the most expensive nightclub drinking whisky. If you opt for the fist option the same amount of money you would blow choosing the latter will last you a week. |
