Sochi coastal public path was laid down in 1930s. Walking has always been considered as a part of resort treatment. Sochi used to have many walking paths and spa doctors would often prescribe a daily walk of a certain distance on a nearby path. Most of those paths as well as many parks have disappeared now and Sochi coastal public path is one of the few which still remain. Although it is shrinking and more and more buildings and fences are growning around it, it is still one of the most beautiful spots to go for a walk in Sochi.

The path which is now called Sochi city health path starts near Sochi Central Stadium (see the map below) and runs south along the sea for 4.5 km. On its way it crosses grounds of some spa hotels (sanatoria) and ends near the bridge across matsesta river. The path was left to itself after perestroika but was hastily renovated before the local election in 2009. The latest 2010 addition to the path is a second fence where the path runs through Pravda (truth) spa Hotel. Now that part of the public path is surrounded on both sides by a tall metal fence with sharp spikes. You can enjoy walking on this path any time of the year. If you like cycling, remember that there are quite a few places with steps where you'll have get off your bike.
